Wow what an amazing day!
It’s always been my dream to see Josephine Baker’s castle… “Chateau Des Milandes.” There she lived with her husband Jo Bouillon and their Rainbow tribe of 12 adopted children from all over the world. I finally saw it today and I am so amazed and humbled by her legacy even more!
I started my day really early to ensure that I’d be among the first to enter the Chateau. It was a lovely drive for about 30 min through the country side of Sarlat …lush green trees and The River Dordogne, and other castles perched atop the mountains and trees.
As we got closer, I grew more anxious, excited and humbled by the majesty of this HUGE castle. Like in a fairy tale, it’s absolutely beautiful.
I spent the entire day at the Chateau and as I was leaving I noticed a whole other section that I didn’t see which means that I must return!
The more I learn about this incredible woman, the more I am amazed. The deeper I dig, the deeper she takes me.
I returned to my hotel and was hoping to go out for dinner and a little walk, but it’s hailing outside!! Huge Hail!! So…looks like room service and a cozy night in with a glass of Bordeaux while reflecting on my fabulous day!!!
